NewsPretium Packaging Expands PET Manufacturing Capabilities Nationwide

The facility's central location will also shorten shipping times and reduce shipping costs for Pretium's Midwestern client base. With the addition of a state-of-the-art SIPA machine platform, Pretium's lean manufacturing Peru facility transitions from primarily extrusion molding to include injection stretch blow with PET resin operations. The SIPA machines, of which only one other is currently operational in the United States, were added to combat capacity constraints and add substantial PET cababilities. In addition to improving production efficiency, the quality of each bottle delivered to Pretium customers is improved by the addition of on-line quality testing, which allows improved statistical control. The new machines also alleviate scrap return, creating a pristine work environment that lends itself to the production of food grade containers. High-speed automation allows the minimization of packing costs, thus ensuring optimum cost efficiency. Pretium's PET expansion and other manufacturing improvements were made possible through a recent capital investment program the company undertook of nearly $10 million.
