No Lost Time Accidents at Pretium Packaging Peru Plant
Pretium Packaging, a St. Louis-based manufacturer of custom plastic packaging
solutions for consumer and institutional products, has achieved one year without
a lost-time accident at its Peru, IL plant.
The Peru plant promotes safety awareness primarily through the efforts of the
Safety Team and corporate incentives, such as the KPI (Key Performance
Indicator) Award, which is given out quarterly.
"The Safety Team meets once a month," said Cindy Werner, plant manager of the
Peru facility, "and we review any incidents that have occurred at other plants
to see what went wrong and how we can prevent them from happening at our plant."
In case an accident does occur, production resumes as soon as possible. The
Safety Team investigates the cause of the accident and discusses changes to keep
it from happening again. All of this goes into an accident report that is
circulated to the other Pretium Packaging plants for review.
Pretium's Peru plant achieved ISO 9000 certification in May 2004.
