Pretium Packaging Reports Good Initial Experience With Electric Preform Machine
for PET Operations
Pretium
Packaging, a St. Louis-based manufacturer of custom plastic packaging solutions
for consumer and institutional products, has become the first North American
company in the packaging industry to install and utilize an all-electric perform
machine in its daily operations.
The electric machines offer an advanced degree of control and repeatability, as
well as an impressive dry cycle time and smooth, quiet operation. They are
currently used in production of a wide range of performs including wide mouth
and oval containers.
"In five years, electric machines will be the industry standard for PET
operations," says Gerry Forget, Project Leader PET Development at Pretium's
Montreal facility. "Already, our operating personnel prefer the precision of the
electric machines over conventional hydraulic ones."
Although electric machines are more expensive than hydraulic ones to purchase,
Forget says the cost is not unmanageable when increased productivity and safety
is factored.
Pretium Packaging is reshaping the plastic packaging industry by stressing speed
to market, custom design and manufacturing responsiveness. In addition to
primary plastic packaging, Pretium also offers customizable delivery and
